2023 Ends With a Deadly Fire in Alamosa

Alamosa, CO – On Sunday, December 31st, the Alamosa Police Department and the Alamosa Fire Department responded to a camper trailer fire on private property in the 1300 block of Alamosa Avenue shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, the camper trailer was fully engulfed with witnesses stating that there may be a person still inside. After the fire was extinguished, a male party was located deceased within the camper trailer. Through preliminary investigation, Alamosa Police Department did not find any suspicious circumstance leading to the fire or death. 

The initial assessment of the scene showed that the camper trailer had a make-shift fireplace that was determined to be the likely cause of the fire. This is an ongoing investigation and the department is waiting on confirmation from the autopsy to show the cause and manner of death. The Alamosa County Coroner will release the name of the decedent after proper identification and notification to the next of kin. There will be no further information released at this time.
