Announcement from the City of Monte Vista:
January 21, 2025, while repairing a leaking residential meter, a water main valve on 2nd and Dennis started to leak. As the leak is a main valve on the area water main it is a substantial leak. The area has been barricaded to prevent traffic. Water service for now is still on. We are working to gather the required parts and due to the cold weather do not want to open the ground until things warm a little.
Current plan is to excavate the area on Friday, January 24, 2025. Water will be shut down approximately 10:00 and service should be restored by 5:00 p.m. This water outage may affect people from Hwy 15 (S. Broadway) down to 4th and west to Dunham. Those that are affected will receive a door hanger by Thursday, January 23, 2025.
We ask people to avoid the intersection of 2nd and Dennis St. and to make plans for the water outage. Stock some water for drinking and some for flushing toilets.
The City of Monte Vista will continue to update as we move through this process.
