From Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office
On October 31, 2023, the Alamosa Sheriff’s Office responded to a stolen vehicle report that occurred at IHOP. A BOLO (Be on the Lookout) alert for the stolen vehicle was broadcast over the radio. Dispatch informed that the vehicle was located at a residence on a County Road northwest of Alamosa and a male subject was reported to be making threats to the residents with a knife.
Alamosa Sheriff’s Office, along with a Trooper with Colorado State Patrol arrived at the residence and confronted the male subject, who was armed with a knife. During the encounter, an Alamosa Sheriff’s Office Deputy discharged his firearm, resulting in the fatality of the male subject. First aid was administered following the incident.
This is a very fluid on-going investigation, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
The Alamosa Police Department is assisting with this investigation and Colorado Bureau of Investigations has been contacted.
We want to assure the community that there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.
