By Rion Eagan

The Alamosa Mean Moose traveled the infamous Colorado Highway 10, to take on the Lamar Thunder at Thunder Stadium in downtown Lamar. The Moose would be looking for the Sweep of the eastern plains teams on the schedule after knocking off La Junta at home last week.

Alamosa would get the ball to start the game, unfortunately for the moose the first possession would result in a three and out.

On the Moose’s next possession it would be Senior QB Kasey Jones who would take it in to the end zone on a 5 yard QB keeper. From there the Moose would keep their foot on the pedal, as they would get touchdowns from Brant Jackson twice and Kade Jones.

The Thunder would find their first points of the game at 5:16 in the second quarter. The first half would end with a score 28-7 in favor of the moose.

Alamosa would keep their foot on the pedal to start the second half as Kade Jones would score with 2:20 left in the third quarter. Moose running back RJ Meis would tack on an additional 6 points in the 4th quarter, that would be soon followed by a one yard touchdown rush by QB Kasey Jones. The Moose would snap a 5 game losing streak to the Thunder in Lamar, coming out with the victory with a final score of 49-7.

The SLV health Player of the game was Running Back RJ Meis. The Mean Moose return to Alamosa next Friday night to take on Manitou Springs for homecoming kick off is set for 7pm and you can hear it on the exclusive radio home of Mean Moose Athletics 96.5 The Fox.
