American Treasure: 101 Year Old Homelake Resident George Blake Remembers Pearl Harbor

Hear George Blake's first hand account of the date which will live in infamy

Veterans Day Special – A sit down interview with American Treasure George Blake.

I have only known one other person in my life who has lived to be 100 years old. My experience was that seldom are they very mobile or articulate and usually their thought process is either gone or failing. That was until I met 101 year old Homelake resident and veteran of the attack on Pearl Harbor George Blake!

George is an American Treasure who represents a dwindling number of Pearl Harbor survivors still around to tell their stories from that fateful day that pulled America into another World War.

I spent over an hour with George for our Veterans Day broadcast which aired on 96.5 The Fox. Below is the interview divided into bite sized segments. We talked about everything from how he got into the military at a time when there was no draft, to the four men lost in the attack he knew, shooting at Japanese Zeros with a bolt action rifle, a poem he wrote about the attack, his life after the military and his thoughts about our country today. He’s a fascinating person. Take some time listen to what he has to say this Veterans Day.
