After taking down the the Thunder in Lamar last week, the Alamosa Mean Moose played host to the Manitou Springs Mustangs for their 2022 home coming game. The Mustangs would be the first to put points on the board at 7:59 of the first quarter, They failed on the two point conversion. Alamosa responded with a 55 yard pass play from the Jones to Jones connection, at 5:37 of the first quarter, the Moose then completed the 2 point conversion and took the lead 8-6.
Alamosa kept their foot on the pedal as they scored at 11:53 of the second quarter on a 21 yard touchdown pass to RJ Meis and extended their lead to 14-6. Two minutes and forty seven seconds later, senior quarterback Kasey Jones got into the scoring action as he had a 47 yard touchdown rush, the point after touchdown was good and the Moose lead was 21-6.
Senior Wide Receiver Jace Quintana added 6 more points to the Moose’s tally at 3:27 of the second quarter, the point after touchdown was blocked, making the lead 27-6. Alamosa would then get a pick six by Sophmore Carlos Garcia. To end the half, the Jones to Jones connection scored again, running the score to 41-6 over the Mustangs.
Alamosa scored the first points of the second half at 7:07 of the third quarter putting the running clock into effect with the score 47-6 in favor of the Alamosa. The Moose would score to cap off the game at 1:22 of the fourth quarter to give them the win 54-12! The win keeps Alamosa undefeated in league play with their next game Friday at 7pm against the Florence Huskies here in Alamosa, which could be for the league title.
